Tor (The Onion Routing) is a software and communication infrastructure providing users with the ability to access services anonymously. Tor can be easily used with Claws Mail in order to retrieve and send emails.

Install Tor

Install Tor (or the Tor Browser bundle) from torproject.org or install it via your package manager.


Configuration

Open the Preferences window (Configuration -> Preferences) and choose the Mail Handling -> Proxy page.

Enable the proxy server and specify Tor's port (9050). The default hostname ("localhost") and the default proxy type ("SOCKS5") are correct.
